There are several debit card providers apart from the banks which issue debit cards when you open an account with them. Carrying cash in your wallet, can at times make it risky to travel in train and walk on the streets after midnight. Such problems can be solved by carrying a card which is loaded with enough cash and avoiding carrying cash in your wallet. Even if lose your wallet, it is enough if you make a call and inform the customer care cell. The card will be disabled and others will not be able to use your card. Thus most people now prefer carrying a prepaid credit card with them over carrying cash.
